I have VA benefits. Do I need Medicare?

VA beneficiaries

I always advise my clients to talk to the Veterans Administrations (VA) benefit department about Medicare. But, they all are told the same thing every single time. You should pick up Parts A and B of Medicare. If VA benefits were to ever change in the future, you will be glad that you picked up Part A and B. Without them, you could be penalized, monthly, for the rest of your life.

If you live in Florida, there are an abundant of Medicare Advantage plans that have a $0/monthly plan premium. In addition, we have several plans that will lower your Medicare Part B premium up to $134/month! This means if Medicare part B cost $134/month, you will pay $0 for Medicare. And $0 for the Medicare Advantage plan.

When you add a Medicare Advantage Plan to your VA and Medicare, your VA will work exactly as it does now. But if you decide to see a civilian doctor, you may see them too. Your Medicare Advantage Plan will only give you more options and incentives!

Some of the plan benefits include:

  • No monthly premium. Premiums are paid by taxes that you have paid in while working
  • Low copays to doctors (sometimes $0)
  • Part D Drug coverage included
  • Free gym membership (silver sneakers)
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Over the Counter Benefits

Don’t get caught without Medicare Part B. If you elect to decline Part B and only have VA benefits, you will be subject to a monthly late penalty for the rest of your life if VA benefits get reduced or cut out altogether.
